Figure 4 from Sageman, 1996. Model for origin of Greenhorn Fm. skeletal limestones is illustrated in a cross section of the Western Interior Basin. Section A - western margin clastics in New Mexico; section B - central basin at Pueblo, CO; section C - eastern platform at Bunker Hill, KS. Skeletal material is winnowed from muds, mainly along eastern shelf, by impingement of storm wave base during sea level fall (NSWB = Normal Storm Wave base; LSWE = Large Storm Wave Base). Concentration and redistribution of skeletal debris as tempestitic deposits occurs during subsequent sea level rise. Correlative progradational wedges (Paguate and Two Wells tongues of Dakota SS) support sea level interpretation.
