Minor in Earth and Planetary Sciences

Making little earthquakes for Geophone

The minor offers students in any major outside the department a flexible path to improved knowledge of earth and planetary sciences. With faculty advisers, students select courses that build basic knowledge in such fields as physical geology, geochemistry, geophysics, Earth materials, planetary science, climate change, or a combination of these. Students interested in the minor should pay close attention to prerequisite requirements for upper level courses.

Minor requirements (6 units)

  • EARTH 201, 202 (350 may substitute for 202)
  • Four 300-level courses in the department, one of which may be EARTH 398 or 399; One 400-level course may substitute with permission

See our advising page for more information about declaring a minor in Earth and Planetary Sciences.
