I am a PhD student at the University of Southampton, UK, researching methods of detecting temperature driven tipping points in arctic lake ecosystems through changes in ecosystem resilience. I am undertaking a 3-month placement at Northwestern University, Il, USA, to learn oxygen isotope analysis on chironomid head capsules. The aim of this work is to reconstruct precipitation oxygen isotopes from a South Greenland lake sediment record to increase our understanding of South Greenland’s Holocene climate, specifically atmospheric circulation patterns and/or temperature.
