Castellum Divisiorum, Nîmes (Roman Nemausus), France.
This distribution castle, or castellum divisiorum, consisted primarily of a circular
settling tank at the aqueduct head.
It received the water flowing into the Roman city of Nemausus from the aqueducts
(such as that carried by the Pont du Gard)
and distributed it through lead pipes to public fountains and baths as well as to
some private homes.
